Making It With Allie - Personalized T-shirts

Hello Friends!!
I am glad to see you all!
It has been super crazy around here lately.
My bestie was in town and we had WAY too much fun.
Well, most of it anyways.
We did lots of training -that is until I injured my darn self.
And we even got a couple of projects it!
Here is a quick look at the t-shirts we made for Hollie's girls.
The Cameo got a good workout and we were able to go to my favorite supply store:

First up, Ashlyn.
She wanted an acoustic guitar and neon pink shirt.

We used Turquoise EasyWeed for this graphic.

This one wrapped around to the back.
Kinda cute, eh?

Next, Sammy.
Sam wanted an electric guitar and neon green

I LOVE the metallic heat transfer!
This one is Cherry!

Pretty cute!
Next is Sophi.
Sophi has recently had braces added to her cute smile.
So, she wanted this cute saying:

This graphic used three products:

Love it!
Last, but not least, Lainey.
Lainey wanted a soccer ball.
So, we girlie-fied it.

This one used both

Both of decided that we couldn't choose which was our favorite.
So, we must have done something right...
The girls LOVED them.
I can't wait to see photos of them in them!

AND.  Because I know some of you will email me and ask me this....
Hollie's nail color is from  Entity Couture1 called "Electric Runway".

Now, it's time for the

Making It With Allie - High Alert and Lock-down

Hello friends!
And boy do I mean FRIENDS!
We had a very alarming situation this week that has us on high alert and lock-down.
I will preface this with the fact that we live in one of those neighborhoods that has basically one way in and out and is windy and the people that are here are very deliberate in their presence.
WELL.
I went to walk little the little Princess out to the bus the other day a few minutes early so we could get some sunshine and play time before she left.
My little brother is visiting, so he and his girlfriend and dog were all out and we were having fun until....
This white unmarked van pulls up and begins to WATCH the little Princess!
Bells and alarms are going off in my head so, I am taking mental notes as many details as I can.
One of the details is that this guy had very fake glasses on without lenses.
Creepy.
Well, her bus pulls up and the guy decided to pull up close to the bus and follow it out.
The hairs on the back of my neck are standing at attention and I grab the keys and head to the elementary.
When I get there, the van is now going past the school and the bus has turned into the school.
This trip to the school is also a very deliberate trip and is very suspect for this guy to be there.
So, I chat with the teachers and give them a frantic heads up.
They were all SO reassuring and helped me calm down.
When I got home, we spoke with a Sheriff who promised to do some investigating.
But the whole thing has left us with a bad feeling in our mouths!
And needless to say, we are all on very high alert and poor little A is on lock-down.
And the dog is figuring out how to do his business pretty quick...
But really, who does this kind of stuff???
How creepy is that?!

Now, it's time for the

Making It With Allie - Bookworm Allie

Hey there! How are all of you?
I have been quite busy for a while and have felt like being a bookworm this last week.
It's been very nice given that the weather in Chicagoland is doing the Spring-Rain bit...
I am loving the Nook too! It's lice to be able to have both AuBrynne and My books with us for when we have a moment or are having bedtime stories.
So, I started with one of my favorite authors, Marian Keyes.
This one was called Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married.

I just love Marian Keyes' writing.
Ms. Keyes has a great way of making the characters funny and endearing and makes you feel happy and sad and as embarrassed as she intends them to be.
I'm running out of Marian Keyes books to read.
I might have to write her a letter, kindly asking her for another good read.... ;-)

Next, my bestie suggested I read The Lucky One, by Nicholas Sparks, before she arrives next week, so we can go see the movie when she's here.

This books was lovely! If only a perfect Marine walked into every ladies life... Right.
This was the first Nicholas Sparks book that I have read.  I noticed that nearly all of his books has been turned into a movie.  And I can see why! I am going to have to read some more!
Anyways, this was a page turner.  Sweet and tender.  It's a good one to get lost in.

Now, a couple of weeks ago, my mother asked if I had read this Fifty Shades book.
Being so busy, I was completely oblivious to the book.  Or books, as its a trilogy...
She did not elaborate on what this set of books was about...
So, when the set of books popped up in my book suggestions, I was like what the heck?? It's on the best seller list. I'll give them a whirl.

Now, I know my mother is peeing her pants laughing at me right now.
You see, I can't even watch people kiss on our soap opera each day.
She laughs at me watching our soap...
Anyways, I am positive she is laughing at me knowing how I would be reading something of this sort...
Thanks, Lisa...
Having to flip through the pages to get to a point where I could open my eyes again.
I know, I'm a silly little girl....
Anyways, These are a great read! And contrary to what the media (that I have now not stopped hearing) would like to have you believe, this is a roller coaster ride of two very interesting young people that I'm sure we all can identify with.  But at the same time, a modern fairy-tale to get lost in.

Anyways,   I have a pile of projects waiting for me to finish.
So, maybe I will have a project for you all next week!  Maybe not...

Now, it's time for the

Making It With Allie - A Quilt for Theodore

Hello friends!
I had such a busy week last week, I only JUST realized that I totally missed last week!
Please forgive me?

Earlier this year, a very dear friend of mine, Stacee, asked me to make a quilt for one of the athletes she trains.
They would be welcoming a beautiful baby boy into their home, and this would be a gift.
To begin, Stacee showed me a quick video of the nursery.
I can't find the video at this point, but it was SO cute!
Gray painted walls with white trim and then adorable mod birch tree decals.
All around were cute little woodland animal plushies.
SO cute.  I must say.

So, Stacee and I worked together to prepare a fitting quilt that had some great sensory woodland animals.
It worked out really well.
Each little animal has a different texture.
And I was even able to make some birch tree silhouettes with some white heat transfer and black satin.
Have a look!

The little fox was appliqued with layers of furry wool.

The tree frog is appliqued satin.

The little hedge-hog baby is layers of satin with blanket stitch for some texture.

The little baby quail is layers of textured satin.  I wish the texture showed up in the photo...

The little owl is wool with a satin beak.

The little bunny rabbit is eyelash plush.

I love this little doe with the spots and a touch of pink in the ear.
The little raccoon is layered satin with lots of stitch texture.

So, this week, after little baby Theodore's name has been settled on, Stacee brought me the blanket, and the birth information was embroidered on the bias binding.
I blurred out his last name for anonymity, but I did want to show you the fantastic font called
Wade Grotesque Casual Swash.
It's one of my favorites and I think it works perfect with the mod quilt.

The reverse is super soft plush in teal.
I love the stuff.
I know the ladies at the cutting counter hate when I have it in my cart.
But kids just LOVE the stuff!
It worked out well, I think!
What do you all think?

Now, it's time for the

Making It With Allie - Easter Dress 2012

Hello Friends!!
How was your recent holidays of Easter and Passover?
Ours was lovely!
I love this age with kids.  They love to celebrate and learn about these fun holidays.
We did a night-time egg hunt with glow in the dark bracelets and plastic eggs.
We did a traditional Egg hunt on Sunday morning and we are still finding eggs...

I prepared Miss AuBrynne's Easter dress.
Actually, I made another one, but the fabric was being, shall we say, Cranky.
When I worked in the costume department, we called it "woodjy".
The fabric was certainly being woodjy.  I tried adjusting stitch length and needle size and even doing bias seams. Nothing helped to make the fabric cooperate.  I really don't know why I waited till I was hemming to just start again.  I guess I thought I could salvage it.  I couldn't.
So...... Thursday night, I started over.
AuBrynne and I quickly established what design she wanted and I took a deep breath.
But, it went SUPER fast!
And it turned our adorable.
I nearly had to wrestle it off her for bed that night.
She LOVES to wear it.  And her little kitten-heels we found for her.

So hear are some "blustery wind" (as AuBrynne says) photos from our Sunday morning egg hunt.
We live in the Chicagoland area, but the winds lately have been RIDICULOUS!
They were coming from every direction Sunday.
Anyways...

Somebody thinks she is a high-paid model...

And a sassy "model walk", haha.

Those two bottom teeth are almost all the way grown in!  I'm going to miss the lost-teeth-lisp.

AuBrynne insisted on this photo because you can see her shadow.
She is REALLY into Peter Pan right now.
Now, it's time for the
