Making It With Allie - A Quilt for Theodore

Hello friends!
I had such a busy week last week, I only JUST realized that I totally missed last week!
Please forgive me?

Earlier this year, a very dear friend of mine, Stacee, asked me to make a quilt for one of the athletes she trains.
They would be welcoming a beautiful baby boy into their home, and this would be a gift.
To begin, Stacee showed me a quick video of the nursery.
I can't find the video at this point, but it was SO cute!
Gray painted walls with white trim and then adorable mod birch tree decals.
All around were cute little woodland animal plushies.
SO cute.  I must say.

So, Stacee and I worked together to prepare a fitting quilt that had some great sensory woodland animals.
It worked out really well.
Each little animal has a different texture.
And I was even able to make some birch tree silhouettes with some white heat transfer and black satin.
Have a look!

The little fox was appliqued with layers of furry wool.

The tree frog is appliqued satin.

The little hedge-hog baby is layers of satin with blanket stitch for some texture.

The little baby quail is layers of textured satin.  I wish the texture showed up in the photo...

The little owl is wool with a satin beak.

The little bunny rabbit is eyelash plush.

I love this little doe with the spots and a touch of pink in the ear.
The little raccoon is layered satin with lots of stitch texture.

So, this week, after little baby Theodore's name has been settled on, Stacee brought me the blanket, and the birth information was embroidered on the bias binding.
I blurred out his last name for anonymity, but I did want to show you the fantastic font called
Wade Grotesque Casual Swash.
It's one of my favorites and I think it works perfect with the mod quilt.

The reverse is super soft plush in teal.
I love the stuff.
I know the ladies at the cutting counter hate when I have it in my cart.
But kids just LOVE the stuff!
It worked out well, I think!
What do you all think?

Now, it's time for the
