Making It With Allie - Global Astronomy Month

Did you know that April 2011 is Global Astronomy Month?

So, along with Easter and Passover crafts, we will be doing some Astronomy crafts!
AuBrynne LOVES looking at the night sky!
The stars in the heavens seem to mesmerize her and mystify me!
However, to my father, it's a Passion!

My father is an Astronomy nut.
He has several telescopes and gives seminars and goes to conventions and stays up all hours of the night to take sky photos that are more amazing than I could imagine taking!

This is what is in his back patio; often called the out-door-office.

I call it the Astronomy Hut....

It is quite large!
We are pretty tall people and we EASILY stand up in this thing!

Here is one of the telescopes mounted inside:

He has a computer to upload his images to out there and a space heater to keep him warm in the cooler hours of the day.
Here is the door that you go in through:

The back side of this door is blank and what my father asked me to make a sign for.

He wanted a sign that is very fitting to honor my sister, Layla.

I used the Silhouette Design Studio and Machine and then some brown vinyl to make this:

See how small these pieces are??? They were really difficult to get onto the plastic.  But I learned a few tricks along the way and can't wait to share them all with you in the very near future!

He is VERY happy with how it turned out and I am glad it is so fantastic too!
I have to say this Silhouette is AMAZING!
And the software that comes with it is SUPERB!!
(No, Silhouette is NOT paying me for this endorsement!)

I can't wait to share more about it with you all!
